Gate B Review5 Lane 5 Context Mining - Todo 4 Category Resolution

verdict: FAIL confidence: HIGH

originalIntent

Todo 4 requires packages/senpi-task/src/category to port the eight OpenCode delegate-task builtin category defaults, overlay omoConfig.categories, delegate the seven-step model order to @oh-my-opencode/delegate-core, map the selected provider/model through a Senpi-style ModelRegistry.find(provider, id), and return typed unavailable results when the chosen model cannot safely resolve.

desiredOutcome

resolveCategory() should return a ResolvedChildSpec only for the exact selected registry model identity. Malformed registry data should return model_unavailable without throwing or leaking private fixture data. Future Todo 9 and Todo 14 can then trust the category result when spawning and describing child tasks.

userOutcomeReview

FAIL. The implementation satisfies most context requirements: the plan line references are still accurate, the eight builtin defaults and fallback chains match current OpenCode/model-core sources, delegate-core owns the model-selection order, and no runtime omo-opencode import was found in senpi-task.

Blocking context discovered: current HEAD can return kind: "resolved" when senpiModelRegistry.find(provider, id) returns an object whose own provider/id do not match the requested selected model, or whose identity fields are empty strings. This violates the Todo 4 mapping requirement and creates an unsafe child spec for later Todos 9 and 14. Existing tests/evidence cover accessor, inherited, secret-field, non-array, and legal-header cases, but not mismatched or empty find() identities.

missedRequirements

  • BLOCKING: ModelRegistry.find(provider, id) result identity is not checked against the selected lookup identity. Direct probe at b4583e46c07d34b9a699d5896803a1d48c74b351 showed find() returning { provider: "", id: "" }, { provider: "evil", id: "other" }, and { provider: "openai", id: "" } all produced kind: "resolved".
  • BLOCKING evidence gap: no unit/manual QA case rejects mismatched find() identity or empty provider/id.

sourcesSkipped

  • Slack, Notion, and other communication channels: SKIPPED, no connector/tool available in this session.
  • Codegraph: SKIPPED after prior tool discovery indicated this worktree has no .codegraph index.

nonblockingContext

  • No stale Todo 4 line-number miss found; controller and worktree plan copies agree for the relevant requirements.
  • ResolveCategoryOptions is exported from packages/senpi-task/src/category/index.ts but not root packages/senpi-task/src/index.ts; no current importer or future Todo reference requires the root export.
  • Docs mention extra OpenCode-era names such as quick-rust, quick-zig, and git; Todo 4 explicitly requires eight builtins plus user-defined categories, so this is documentation drift/FYI, not a blocker for this slice.
  • resolver.ts is exactly 250 pure LOC, inside the ceiling but with no growth room.
  • CATEGORY_FALLBACK_CHAINS is a local mirror of model-core; currently exact, but future drift guard/shared-source cleanup is advisable.
  • review5/qa.md failed on a stale no-excuse script path; the corrected shared-skill checker path passed. This is a QA-lane artifact issue, not the context blocker.

slopAndProgrammingPass

Applied remove-ai-slops and programming criteria directly. The existing category tests are mostly behavior-oriented and not deletion-only, tautological, or implementation-mirroring. The remaining blocker is not overfit/slop; it is missing adversarial coverage and production validation for malformed find() identity. No product code was edited in this lane.

finalVerdict

FAIL. No missed stale-line or adjacent-plan context was found, but a blocking missed boundary requirement remains: resolved category specs can carry a registry identity that differs from the selected model or is empty.
