mise unuse

  • Usage: mise unuse [FLAGS] <INSTALLED_TOOL@VERSION>…
  • Aliases: rm, remove
  • Effect: destructive — may delete or irreversibly overwrite
  • Source code: src/cli/unuse.rs

Remove tool requests from configuration and prune unused installations

Without a selector, mise edits the first loaded config that declares one of the requested tools. Use --path, --global, or --env to choose a specific file. A version argument matches the configured request literally: to remove node = "20", use mise unuse node@20, not the concrete installed version it resolved to. Omit the version to remove all requests for that tool from the selected file.

Versions are pruned only when no remaining tracked config or tool stub needs them. Pass --no-prune to edit configuration while keeping installations. To remove an installation without editing configuration, use mise uninstall.

Arguments

  • <INSTALLED_TOOL@VERSION>… — Tool(s) to remove

Flags

  • -e --env <ENV> — Modify .mise.<env>.toml when it exists, otherwise mise.<env>.toml

  • -g --global — Use the global config file (~/.config/mise/config.toml) instead of the local one

  • -p --path <PATH> — Specify a path to a config file or directory

If a directory is specified, it will look for a config file in that directory following the target-file selection rules.

    Aliases: --file

  • --no-prune — Do not also prune the installed version

  • -h --help — Print help
