How long does it take to build a store with Bloom?

Bloom can build your initial store in about 2 minutes. You can launch a complete, production-ready store in hours by continuing to refine your design and features through chat.

See Create Your First Bloom for a step-by-step guide.

Do I need to install anything to use Bloom?

No, Bloom runs entirely in your web browser. Just visit bloom.chat and start building.

Can I try Bloom for free?

Building Your Store

How do I create my first store?

Visit the Bloom homepage and either write a custom prompt describing your store or choose a pre-built starter. After creating an account, Bloom will build your store in about 2 minutes. See the Create Your First Bloom guide for detailed instructions.

What should I include in my first prompt?

The best first prompts include:

  • What you sell (products, services, or store type)
  • Store style (look and feel)
  • Key features (special functionality you need)

For example: "Build a candle store with minimalist design, warm colors, and three products."

See Store Design Prompting guide for tips on writing effective prompts.

Can Bloom generate product images for me?

Yes, Bloom generates images for your products and store to provide a complete experience. Image generation consumes credits. You can also upload your own product images later.

How do I make changes to my store after it's built?

Chat with Bloom and describe the changes you want. Bloom updates your store in real-time. You can change designs, add features, update content, and more just by asking.

What is Selection Mode?

Selection Mode lets you click on specific elements in your store to make targeted changes, and make tweaks to text and design without using credits.

See Selection Mode guide for more details.

Can I upload my own designs or inspirations?

Yes, you can upload screenshots of design inspirations, provide URLs to websites you like, or copy code from Figma. Bloom will match those styles in your store.

See Design from Media guide for instructions on using design inspirations.

Can I customize everything about my store?

Yes, your store is fully customizable. Ask Bloom to change colors, layouts, images, features, and more.

Refer to the Medusa Admin User Guide for detailed instructions on setting up shipping and taxes.

Publishing and Deployment

How do I publish my store?

Click the "Publish" button in the top-right corner of the project interface. If you're on the Free plan, you'll need to upgrade to the Hobby plan first.

See the Going Live guide for a complete publishing checklist.

Do I need to upgrade to publish my store?

Yes, you need the Hobby plan to publish your store to a live URL. The Free plan includes shareable preview links but doesn't allow production deployment.

See Credits and Plans for details on plans and features.

What happens when I publish my store?

Bloom deploys your store to a live URL, sets up hosting, configures SSL, and handles everything needed to run your store. Your store becomes accessible to customers immediately.

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes, you can configure a custom domain for your store. By default, your store publishes to the .medusajs.site subdomain, but you can connect your own domain.

See the Custom Domains guide for instructions on setting up your domain.

How do I deploy updates after publishing?

Click the "Publish" button again and select "Deploy changes" to push your latest changes to the live store. You can deploy as many times as needed.

Credits and Pricing

What are credits?

Credits are the currency Bloom uses to measure usage. Each time you send a prompt to Bloom, it consumes credits based on the complexity and scope of your request.

See Credits and Plans for details on how credits work and how many you get with each plan.

Do unused credits roll over to the next month?

No, unused credits don't roll over. Credits reset automatically at the start of each month.

How can I check my credit balance?

In the account view, you'll see credits remaining at the top right (for example, "40 credits left"). In the project view, click the project name at the top left to see a progress bar showing your credit usage.

What happens if I run out of credits?

You'll receive an error when you try to send a prompt. Your production store stays live, but you can't make changes with Bloom until your credits reset or you upgrade. You can still push updates through GitHub or use Selection Mode, which doesn't consume credits.

Can I buy extra credits without upgrading?

No, Bloom doesn't offer one-time credit purchases. To get more credits immediately, upgrade to a higher tier. You can downgrade at the start of the next month if needed.

Are credits shared across multiple stores?

Yes, credits are shared across all stores under your account. If you have multiple projects, they all draw from the same pool of credits.

Do I need to enter payment info for the Free plan?

No, you don't need payment information to use the Free plan. Start building without providing any payment details.

Plans and Subscriptions

What's the difference between Free and Hobby plans?

The Free plan includes 5 credits per month and shareable preview links. The Hobby plan includes more credits (50-360 per month), production deployment, and GitHub export.

See the Credits and Plans guide for complete details.

How do I upgrade my plan?

In the account view, click "Upgrade" at the top right. Select the tier you want and click "Pay and upgrade". You'll be charged immediately and your credits update right away.

See the Credits and Plans guide for step-by-step instructions.

Can I downgrade my plan?

Yes, follow the same steps as upgrading but select a lower tier. Your new plan takes effect at the start of the next month. You'll keep your current credits until then.

See the Credits and Plans guide for details on downgrading.

Can I cancel my subscription anytime?

Yes, downgrade to the Free plan to cancel your subscription. Your plan stays active until the end of your billing cycle, then switches to the Free plan.

What happens to my store if I cancel?

Your store stays live until the end of your billing cycle. After that, it switches to Free plan limitations (5 credits per month, no production deployment). Your production store gets taken down, but your preview store remains live.

Code and Technical Details

What technology is Bloom built on?

Bloom stores are built on Medusa, an open-source commerce platform. This means you get a robust, production-ready foundation with full ecommerce features.

Can I export my store's code?

Yes, the Hobby plan includes GitHub export. Transfer your project's codebase to your GitHub account for version control, local development, or collaboration with developers.

See Export to GitHub guide for instructions on exporting your code.

Do I own the code Bloom generates?

Yes, you have full ownership of your store's code. You can export it, modify it, or continue development locally.

Can I continue development outside of Bloom?

Yes, export your code to GitHub and continue development locally. You can work on the code yourself or with developers while still using Bloom.

Can developers work on my Bloom store?

Yes, developers can access your store's code through GitHub export. They can make changes locally and push updates through Git. Then, you can deploy those changes through Bloom's publish feature.

What if I need custom integrations?

Ask Bloom to integrate third-party services. For advanced integrations, export your code and have a developer implement them.

How do I upgrade my store's hosting?

Bloom stores are hosted on Medusa Cloud, a hosting service for Medusa applications with zero configuration.

Your Bloom account on the Hobby plan includes hosting for one published store on Medusa Cloud. This is sufficient for testing and small stores.

However, for better performance, reliability, and features, or to publish more than one store, upgrade to the Pro or Enterprise plans on Medusa Cloud.

Learn more in the Going Live guide.

Troubleshooting

What if Bloom doesn't understand my prompt?

Try being more specific about what you want. Break complex requests into smaller steps. Use Selection Mode to target specific elements instead of describing them.

See Store Design Prompting guide for tips on writing effective prompts.

Can I undo changes Bloom makes?

Yes, you can revert to a previous version of your store using the Restore Changes feature. This allows you to undo changes and go back to a version you liked.

What if my store looks wrong on mobile?

Use the Responsive View feature to preview and adjust your store's design for mobile devices. Ask Bloom to make specific changes to improve the mobile experience.
