Matrix 2 of 5 is a linear one-dimensional self-checking barcode that can encode only numerical data. The barcode is used primarily for warehouse sorting, photo finishing, and airline ticket marking.

Refer to the following article for more information: Matrix 2 of 5.

Add the Bar Code to a Report

  1. Drag the XRBarCode item from the DX.25.2: Report Controls tab and drop it onto the report.

  2. Set the XRBarCode control’s Symbology property to Matrix2of5 (an object of the Matrix2of5Generator type).

  3. Specify common bar code properties and properties specific to Matrix 2 of 5.

Specific Properties

Runtime Example

The following code creates the Matrix 2 of 5 barcode and specifies its properties.

View Example: How to add a bar code to a report

csharp
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Drawing.Printing;
using System.Windows.Forms;
using DevExpress.XtraPrinting.BarCode;
using DevExpress.XtraReports.UI;
// ...
public XRBarCode CreateMatrix2of5BarCode(string BarCodeText) {
    // Create a barcode control.
    XRBarCode barCode = new XRBarCode();

    // Set the barcode's type to Matrix 2 of 5.
    barCode.Symbology = new Matrix2of5Generator();

    // Adjust the barcode's main properties.
    barCode.Text = BarCodeText;
    barCode.Width = 400;
    barCode.Height = 100;

    // Adjust the properties specific to the barcode type.
    ((Matrix2of5Generator)barCode.Symbology).CalcCheckSum = false;
    ((Matrix2of5Generator)barCode.Symbology).WideNarrowRatio = 3;

    return barCode;
}
vb
Imports System
Imports System.Collections.Generic
Imports System.Drawing.Printing
Imports System.Windows.Forms
Imports DevExpress.XtraPrinting.BarCode
Imports DevExpress.XtraReports.UI
' ...
Public Function CreateMatrix2of5BarCode(ByVal BarCodeText As String) As XRBarCode
    ' Create a barcode control.
    Dim barCode As New XRBarCode()

    ' Set the barcode's type to Matrix 2 of 5.
    barCode.Symbology = New Matrix2of5Generator()

    ' Adjust the barcode's main properties.
    barCode.Text = BarCodeText
    barCode.Width = 400
    barCode.Height = 100

    ' Adjust the properties specific to the barcode type.
    CType(barCode.Symbology, Matrix2of5Generator).CalcCheckSum = False
    CType(barCode.Symbology, Matrix2of5Generator).WideNarrowRatio = 3

    Return barCode
End Function

The code example below shows how to create a report with the Matrix 2 of 5 barcode:

csharp
using DevExpress.XtraPrinting.BarCode;
using DevExpress.XtraReports.UI;
//...

var barCode = CreateMatrix2of5BarCode("012345678");

var report = new XtraReport() {
    Bands = {
        new DetailBand() {
            Controls = { barCode }
        }
    }
};
vb
Imports DevExpress.XtraPrinting.BarCode
Imports DevExpress.XtraReports.UI
'...

Private barCode = CreateMatrix2of5BarCode("012345678")

Dim report As New XtraReport()
Dim band = New DetailBand()
band.Controls.Add(barCode)
