Code 128 is a high-density symbology that encodes alphanumeric data.

Refer to the following article for more details: Code 128.

Add a Bar Code to a Report

  1. Drag the XRBarCode item from the DX.25.2: Report Controls tab and drop it onto the report.

  2. Set the XRBarCode control’s Symbology property to Code128 (an object of the Code128Generator type).

  3. Specify common barcode properties and properties specific to Code128.

Specific Properties

CharacterSetGets or sets the character set type for the bar code.FNC1SubstituteA substring/character that serves as the placeholder for the FNC1 functional character.FNC2SubstituteA substring/character that serves as the placeholder for the FNC2 functional character.FNC3SubstituteA substring/character that serves as the placeholder for the FNC3 functional character.FNC4SubstituteA substring/character that serves as the placeholder for the FNC4 functional character.

Runtime Example

The following code creates a Code 128 barcode and specifies its properties.

csharp
using System;
using System.Collections.Generic;
using System.Drawing.Printing;
using System.Windows.Forms;
using DevExpress.XtraPrinting.BarCode;
using DevExpress.XtraReports.UI;
// ...
public XRBarCode CreateCode128BarCode(string BarCodeText) {
    // Create a barcode control.
    XRBarCode barCode = new XRBarCode();

    // Set the barcode's type to Code 128.
    barCode.Symbology = new Code128Generator();

    // Adjust the barcode's main properties.
    barCode.Text = BarCodeText;
    barCode.Width = 400;
    barCode.Height = 100;

    // Adjust the properties specific to the barcode type.
    ((Code128Generator)barCode.Symbology).CharacterSet = Code128Charset.CharsetB;

    return barCode;
}
vb
Imports System
Imports System.Collections.Generic
Imports System.Drawing.Printing
Imports System.Windows.Forms
Imports DevExpress.XtraPrinting.BarCode
Imports DevExpress.XtraReports.UI
' ...
Public Function CreateCode128BarCode(ByVal BarCodeText As String) As XRBarCode
    ' Create a barcode control.
    Dim barCode As New XRBarCode()

    ' Set the barcode's type to Code 128.
    barCode.Symbology = New Code128Generator()

    ' Adjust the barcode's main properties.
    barCode.Text = BarCodeText
    barCode.Width = 400
    barCode.Height = 100

    ' Adjust the properties specific to the barcode type.
    CType(barCode.Symbology, Code128Generator).CharacterSet = Code128Charset.CharsetB

    Return barCode
End Function

The code example below shows how to create a report with a Code 128 barcode:

csharp
using DevExpress.XtraPrinting.BarCode;
using DevExpress.XtraReports.UI;
//...

var barCode = CreateCode128BarCode("012345678");

var report = new XtraReport() {
    Bands = {
        new DetailBand() {
            Controls = { barCode }
        }
    }
};
vb
Imports DevExpress.XtraPrinting.BarCode
Imports DevExpress.XtraReports.UI
'...

Private barCode = CreateCode128BarCode("012345678")

Dim report As New XtraReport()
Dim band = New DetailBand()
band.Controls.Add(barCode)
