When I call repo_get_combined_status_by_ref for a repo on codeberg.org and no CI/CD is active I expect the resulting CommitStatusState to be in a variant, like Unknown or Unavailable.
I receive a serde error, as it is unable to deserialize the JSON response of null for the statuses field.
As an example, here is the API response for a test commit on my forgejo-cli fork for the request
https://codeberg.org/api/v1/repos/Fluffinity/forgejo-cli/commits/020ddbc8fe13d1c88f3ed18afeb2b15ebd595aa2/status:
{
"state": "",
"sha": "",
"total_count": 0,
"statuses": null,
"repository": null,
"commit_url": "",
"url": ""
}
Using my repo as a testing ground:
https://codeberg.org/Fluffinity/forgejo-cli locallycd into the local repofj pr status 1fj Versionfj v0.5.0
user agent: forgejo-cli/0.5.0 (https://codeberg.org/forgejo-contrib/forgejo-cli/)
build type: crates.io
target: x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu
This problem also appears when compiling from main.

Clone the repo https://codeberg.org/Fluffinity/forgejo-cli locally 2. cd into the local repo 3. Invoke fj pr status 1 ### fj Version text fj v0.5.0 user agent: forgejo-cli/0.5.0 (https://codeberg.org/forgejo-contrib/forgejo-cli/) build type: crates.io target: x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu This problem also appears when compiling from main. ### Forgejo Version 15.0.0-156-02d7aaa8+gitea-1.22.0 ### Code of Conduct - [x] I agree to act in accordance with the CoC & AI Agreement. - [x] This issue was not generated by an LLM, even in part.Fluffinity commented 2026-06-20 12:17:55 +02:00

I did not expect the issue to be created here (used the CLI). Closing it here and moving it to the forgejo-api repo
