Expected Behavior

fj issue search --labels <name> should return only issues containing those labels.

In my repository I have 9 open issues. 6 of them have the label 'enhancement'. fj issue search --labels enhancement should return those 6 issues.

text
$ fj issue search --labels enhancement | head -1
6 issues

Actual Behavior

In my repository I have 9 open issues. 6 of them have the label 'enhancement'. 3 of them have the label 'area/architecture', 3 of them have label 'area/ui'

text
$ fj issue search --labels enhancement | head -1
9 issues

Expected 6, got all 9 open issues

Surprisingly labels containing / filters behave differently:

text
$ fj issue search --labels area/architecture | head -1
6 issues

Expected 3, got 6 (there are 6 issues with labels containing / so there might be something there)

Searching even non-existent labels will return all open issues

Steps to Reproduce

Repository has 9 open issues with a mix of labels: enhancement on 6, documentation on 1, area/architecture on 3, area/ui on 3

console
$ fj issue search | head -1
9 issues

$ fj issue search --labels enhancement | head -1
9 issues

$ fj issue search --labels documentation | head -1
9 issues

$ fj issue search --labels nonsense-label | head -1
9 issues

$ fj issue search --labels enhancement,documentation | head -1
9 issues

$ fj issue search --labels enhancement, documentation | head -1
0 issues

$ fj issue search --labels area/architecture | head -1
6 issues

$ fj issue search --labels area/ui | head -1
9 issues

Is it possible you could share the repository you're encountering this on? I'm unable to reproduce this on forgejo-cli's own repo:

❯ fj issue search --labels Kind/Bug | head -1

The repo I was testing on is a private company repo with exposed secrets. But I'll try spinning up a public repo and testing there. If I get the same results I'll share here.

In the meantime could you try searching for a label without a forward slash? In my testing that seems to change the results slightly.

And maybe it matters, but I am running my commands from Windows Subsystem for Linux on Windows 11.

Ah, I suspect this is an instance of forgejo/forgejo#9028, which was fixed in Forgejo v15, and I see you're running v14. That would explain why I can't reproduce it, since I've only tested it on v15 (Codeberg and my own instance)

Confirmed upgrading to v15 solved it.
